The OGEC ENS
What is the OGEC ENS?
The Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex Email Notification System (ENS) is a free of charge subscription service, where subscribers will receive email(s) from OGEC when new events are added to our calendar. Subscribers choose which event discipline(s) they wish to be notified about and whether to also receive the schedule when published, and whether to receive further copies of the schedule when updated.
How does it work?
Each night, our systems check to see if there have been any new events added to our Calendar. When it finds such events, it checks the preferences of each subscriber, and if the event discipline matches, it then emails information about the new event to the subscriber. If the subscriber has requested that the schedule of the event be sent, then if it is available, it will attach a copy as an Adobe Acrobat pdf document to the email. If it is not available at that time, it will send the schedule when it is available. And for those subscribers who require updated schedules as they are published, then it sends those out as well!

Do I only receive information about events at OGEC?
With four exceptions, yes!
The exceptions are:
- When you first sign up, the system sends to you an email with a link to visit another web page on our site. This is to verify that the email address that has been entered belongs to the person who has signed up. Until that link has been followed, the system will not send any emails.
- If you change your preferences, the system sends to you an email advising that the changes have been made and the details of your preferences at that time.
- If OGEC adds new disciplines to the range currently offered, then, to advise you of the new discipline, we will send an email to you. You will not be subscribed to the new discipline by the system - you will need to do that yourself!
- We may learn about an event that would not normally be on our Calendar, but which we feel that subscribers would be interested in. We would, in such circumstances, use the system to send you email.
Am I going to receive loads of junk email?
Simple answer: No! All email that is automatically produced by the system is sent out to subscribers because they have asked us to so do (by setting the preferences for each type of event that is held at OGEC).Email about events that we believe are of interest to you can only be created by Phil, Jayna or David. The ENS has not been set up as a place to collect email addresses for selling to junk and spam email creators!
I have not received the instructions to confirm my email address
We have had reports of this, and at this stage it appears that it is a problem with Googlemail and GMail accounts. Please open your mail account via a web browser and check your Spam folder and your Important folder. The email that we send is from: "eventnotificationservice@onleygroundsec.com"and has a subject line of: "OGEC Event Notification Service - Confirm Email Address"If the email is in your spam folder, then open the email and mark it as not spam. (Don't forget to follow the link that is contained in the email!!) We recommend that you also create a filter. With the email open in the web browser, click the "More" button, and select "Filter messages like these". A "Create a Filter" panel will appear. For the From address enter "*@onleygroundsec.com" (without the quote marks, and don't forget the first asterisk!). Leave the other fields blank. Click the "Next Step" button. On the panel, tick the "Never send it to Spam", and finally click the "Create Filter" button.
